World Savings honors BCL of Texas on their campaign for Homeownership.
BCL of Texas continues to assist first time homebuyers through their Home of Our Own program
Austin, Texas: Friday, November 3, 2006 BCL of Texas, a non-profit community lender, will receive a donation of $8,500 for their campaign for Homeownership. World Savings district director, Bernadette Stone, will present BCL of Texas executive director, Rosa Rios Valdez and Home of Our Own program director, Richard Sifuentes with the donation check at their offices on 2212 S. Congress, Austin, Texas.
BCL of Texas created the Home of Our Own program five years ago to educate working families who want to purchase a home. BCLs’ goal is to help first time homebuyers understand the home purchase process. Many homebuyers find the home purchase process complicated and difficult. For the 2006 fiscal year BCL educated over 1500 homebuyers and facilitated over $53million in mortgages. “Homeownership is an exciting and rewarding achievement. It is an investment in the future. More important, homeownership provides a sense of pride and security,” says Rosa Rios Valdez, BCL of Texas executive director.
BCL of Texas currently offers homebuyer education in 3 key regions to qualified participants who are buying a home through Bank of America’s Community Commitment Program. In Austin classes are held bi-weekly for the Central Texas area. In Dallas area, BCL of Texas offered classes 6 times a month in both English and Spanish. In North Texas BCL of Texas has recently begun teaching classes monthly In Tyler. All classes are held both in English and Spanish for our participants.
