BCL of Texas recognizes homebuyer education providers approved through the City of Dallas. Existing approved providers will be accepted for DHAP participation.

Homebuyer education must:

• Be provided by a HUD-approved agency
• Include a minimum 8-hour course
• Result in a valid certificate of completion
• Be completed prior to closing

CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS

• Certificates must be valid (typically within 12 months)
• Must be submitted as part of the DHAP file
• Must match borrower name(s) on application

Education providers support DHAP by:

• Preparing homebuyers for mortgage readiness
• Educating borrowers on the homebuying process
• Referring eligible clients to the DHAP Readiness Check
